Heemin Chung
Heemin Chung is interested in observing how individuals exist in virtual and real networks as well as in metaphysical events caused by technology. Expressing on canvas experiences of temporal sensual disagreement provided by screens, Chung explores questions of self-identity and digital affect in today’s technology-mediated society. Through a process of revisiting conventional genres of paintingsㅡsuch as landscape and still lifeㅡwithin the context of the contemporary visual environment, and studying the unconventional methods by which conventional materials are molded for pictorial expression on surfaces, Chung metaphorically approaches the ways our ontological senses are changing and inquires about the meaning of media.
