Aaron Dadacay
Aaron Dadacay
Aaron Panela Dadacay was born and raised in Metro Manila during a discourse of one martial law regime, a successful presidential impeachment, and two People’s Power revolutions. Immediately after moving to California in 2001, he practiced studio art for four years and received an Associate of Arts degree at Oxnard College. In the fall of 2008, he joined the UCLA arts program and received his BA.
Aaron has an interest in the sculptural aspect of the human psyche that stems from multicultural affiliations and personal mythologies. As an immigrant artist dealing with issues of diaspora and assimilation, the term ‘work’ in relation to his practice usually pertains to someone’s cultural arrangement that molds an identity.
