The MA Curatorial Practice Program at the School of Visual Arts is pleased to present Not too hot, Not too cold, organized and facilitated by Sophia Park. This curatorial project explores the role of friendship in art collectives and collaborative art practices. Friendship plays an integral role in society as it allows individuals outside of traditional lines of filiation to develop meaningful connections with each other. Not too hot, Not too cold proposes friendship as a critical relationship that both provides structures of care for artists and possibilities for exhibiting collective practices. An assorted soft archive of Correspondence Archive, Friend of a Friend, Risolana, and KUNCI Study Forum & Collective will be presented—in an effort to exhibit each group’s friendships and art practice. One moderated public conversation inquiring into friendship and collectivity will take place Friday, April 14, 3 pm – 5 pm at SVA CP Project Space with a continuing conversation and zine making workshop at Asia Art Archive in America as integral parts of Not too hot, Not too cold.
“I’ll see you in the group chat” is a program open to the public, which will be held from 3pm - 5pm before the opening reception. Please join us for a conversation on friendship and collectivity at SVA CP Project Space. Harvest from the conversation will be used in a continuing zine-making event, which participants will receive more information on during the program.
